Fly High Aviation Media is proud to bring you the 2022 Joint Base Andrews Air & Space Expo,  staged at Andrews Air Force Base Maryland, it has been three years since the last Air Show at Andrews Air Force Base, the 2022 Air & Space Expo made a very welcome return. 

 

The Joint Base Andrews Air & Space Expo is JBA's opportunity to say "thank you" to our community, the state, and the National Capital Region!

Joint Base Andrews held a free expo, on the 17th & 18th of September 2022. The Joint Base Andrews Air & Space Expo entertained audiences of all ages! with Air Force premier aerial demonstrations, Including US Army & several civilian acts.

Among other commemorations, this year's Joint Base Andrews Air Show will celebrate the Air Force's 75th Birthday. Highlights include USAF display team Thunderbirds, flying the multirole fighter jet the F-16 Fighting Falcon, other highlights included the F-35 demo team, Heritage flight, C-17, USAFA Wings of Blue parachute team, US Army golden knights parachute team, Bomber warbird flight (B-25, B-24, B-17, and B-29), civilian Acts included Ken Pietsch, Patty Wagstaff, Rob Holland & the amazing Aftershock. Plus Saturday the 17th of September only a Global strike flyby by a B-1 bomber, a Global strike flyby by a B-2 bomber, and the United States Coast Guard search and rescue demonstration. 

Fly High Aviation Media would like to thank the organizers, volunteer's and Public Affairs Office, for an enjoyable time while on base, a very professionally organized event, thank you for all your help in making this event run smoothly, especially to Amelia J. Monday 12th September 2022, Fly high Aviation media were invited To Joint Base Andrews, the witness the arrival of the United States Air Force demonstration team the Thunderbirds, we were able to capture some images of a small demo from the Thunderbirds, later we had the chance to interview a team member.

Major Kyle Oliver is the lead solar pilot for the United States Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds from Nellis Air Force Base Nevada. as Thunderbird 5 he flies the number 5 jet and serves as a squadron's aircrew flight equipment officer and assisted director of operations he is in his third year with the team.

Major Oliver entered the Air Force in 2010 with a Reserve officer training car commission from the Ohio State University, he completed the joint specialized on graduate pilot training at Vance Air Force Base Oklahoma in 2012 after completing pilot training as a distinguished graduate and Commander’s Trophy winner. Major Oliver served as an F-22 Raptor pilot in Alaska, Major Oliver has flown more than 1600 hours including more than 230 combat hours over Iraq and Syria in support of Operation Inherent resolve. prior to the Thunderbirds major Oliver said as an assistant director of operations and instructor pilot for the 27 Fighter Squadron Joint Base Langley Eustis Virginia, major Oliver explained his time with the Thunderbirds team was coming to an end at the end of the 2022 season when he is expected to return as a flight instructor of the F-22 Raptor at Joint Base Langley Eustis Virginia.

Wednesday 14th September 2022, Fly high Aviation media were outside Joint Base Andrews to capture some of the arrivals for the forthcoming airshow, the images are below, United States Air Force demonstration team The Thunderbirds, return to Joint Base Andrews after performing a flypast at Arlington Cemetery, C-5 Galaxy, B-52 heavy bomber, and AH-64 Apache gunship, F-16 from the locally based ANG unit Capital Guardians and an MC-130J from the United States Air Force. 

Thursday 15th September 2022, Fly high Aviation media was invited To Joint Base Andrews, For a media day Which was split into two parts and morning and afternoon, here are some images taken from the apron of Joint Base Andrews.

Meet the pilot of the United States Air Force F-35 demo team, Major Kirstin 'BEO’ Wolfe, Major Wolfe is the first female to be named F-35 demo pilot. F-35 Demo Team commander Major Kristin ‘Beo’ Wolfe followed in her father’s footsteps by pursuing a career in the Air Force but is now establishing her own legacy in the cockpit of America’s most advanced fighters. As a senior pilot with more than 1,000 flight hours, Maj. Wolfe has gained experience flying a variety of aircraft including the T-6, T-38C,    F-22A, and F-35A. Maj. Wolfe entered the military in 2011 after receiving her commission from the Air Force ROTC program at the University of Alabama.

Thursday 15th September 2022, Fly high Aviation media captured some more arrivals for the upcoming airshow.

Monday 12th September 2022, Fly high Aviation media were invited To Joint Base Andrews, the witness the arrival of the United States Air Force demonstration team the Thunderbirds, we were able to capture some images of a small demo from the Thunderbirds, later we had the chance to interview a team member.

United States Army parachute team golden knights had some technical issues, which resulted in a change of plan, media entourage was invited to walk the apron and photograph the static aircraft which you see below.
