Fly High Aviation Media is proud to bring you the 2022 Joint Base Andrews Air & Space Expo,  staged at Andrews Air Force Base Maryland, it has been three years since the last Air Show at Andrews Air Force Base, the 2022 Air & Space Expo made a very welcome return. 

 

The District of Columbia Air National Guard celebrated the Air Force's 75th anniversary on base at Joint Base Andrews Air and Space Expo the 17th and 18th of September 2022. this year's export theme is 'Innovate, Accelerate, Thrive and the Air Force at 75, the program of events included out of demonstrations heck of static displays vendors, and meet and greets. The Joint Base Andrews Air & Space Expo is JBA's opportunity to say "thank you" to our community, the state, and the National Capital Region!

The show at John Base Andrews is always an impressive event, the weather has been fine for the previous two days, and conditions for the display on Sunday the 18th of September 2022 we're very favorable, that's one of the largest air shows on the East Coast, let fly high Aviation media take you through the highlights of Sunday the 18th of September, finishing with the US Air Forces Premiere display team but from the birds.

Sunday the 18th of September 2022, It was the first set of images of the static aircraft on show, the first image includes the iconic Water Tower at Joint Base Andrews which many of us who live near the DC metro area see this iconic Landmark on a regular basis, with a selection of helicopters based at JB Andrews, another JB Andrew's based helicopter a UH-1N from the 1st HS, KC-10A 305th AMW, B-1B 9th BS, B-52H 93rd BS AFRC, USAF ‘THUNDERBIRDS’, UC-35D CITATION USMC, CH-47F MD ARNG, A-10C 74th FS, C-130T VR-53, F-35A 4TH FS, AH-64D B/1-10TH AVN & C-147A GOLDEN KNIGHTS.

The middle image below is a Beech T-34A mentor an ex-military aircraft now in private hands and looking very  resplendent in its Navy markings, the left image of the owners of the aircraft a father and daughter, we had a great chat, the image on the right belongs to three of Prince George’s County FD, it was great to meet you guys.

More static aircraft, starting off with T-1A 48th FTS, T-38C 25th FTS in Retro c/s, two F-15E’s from SJ, T-28A Trojan, C-17, AC-130J 4th SOS, HH-60W 41st RQS, F-35 making ready to display, C-147A Golden Knights loading up, KC-135R, B-17G, C-37A, F-22 Raptor and a pair of C-17’s.

Someone spectacular action shots of Aftershock jet fire truck this 1940 Ford fire truck boasts Twin Rolls-Royce Bristol Viper jet engine’s totalling over 24,000 horsepower and holds the Guinness record for fire trucks at an amazing 407 mph, also making up this set of pictures is a United States Air Force fire truck.

A collection of images from the USAFA wings of the blue parachute unit of the United States Air Force Academy sporting a variety of flags and banners, also the United States Army golden knights parachute team also spelling several Flags as both parachute teams land the air show opens for flying.

The pattern is open several aircraft launch to the sky with some fly past’s of locally-based aircraft from Joint Base Andrews, C-17 was used to drop para-troops.

Bomber Warbird Flight - Those wonderful shiny machines, making the skies above Andrews full with the beautiful sound of radial engines, a special thanks to the volunteers who keep these aircraft for over 70 years in flying condition so we can enjoy the sight & sounds.

The heat is on, the F-35 is in the very capable hands of Maj. Kirstin ‘BEO’ Wolfe, putting the lightning II through its paces, Maj. Wolfe gave a very slick, sharp display, as you can see from the incredible images we managed to capture below, thank you, Maj. Wolfe.

Maj. Kirstin ‘BEO’ Wolfe now links up with a P-51 Mustang to form the Heritage flight.

A short interlude allows the crew of the F-35 lightning II to take the aircraft away and make preparations for there departure, also a UH-1N becomes a reconnaissance ship taking images of the scene and crowds.

The next demo needs little introduction, Rob Holland with his MXS aerobatic demonstration, amazing flying.

Now the show stopping United States Air Force premier demo team The ‘Thunderbirds’, we will let the pictures do the talking!
