Korean Air Celebrates 30 Years at Dulles with Cultural Showcase and Economic Milestone

On Friday 25th July 2025, representatives from Korean Air and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) gathered at Washington Dulles International Airport to welcome a newly branded Boeing 777-300ER, arriving on the airline’s daily nonstop flight from Seoul. The event marked three decades of uninterrupted service between Dulles and Incheon International Airport — a transpacific connection that has carried nearly 3.5 million passengers since its launch in 1994.
Last year alone, Korean Air transported more than 170,000 travelers on the route, underscoring its role as a vital link between the U.S. capital and South Korea. According to MWAA, the airline contributes an estimated $60 million annually in local economic impact across the National Capital Region.
The July 25 celebration blended aviation and culture, featuring a traditional Korean fan dance and drumming performance by the JUB Cultural Center. In a nod to the airline’s hospitality, the 30th passenger to check in received a complimentary round-trip ticket courtesy of Korean Air, while all passengers were gifted commemorative items to mark the occasion.
The arrival of the refreshed 777-300ER not only highlights Korean Air’s continued investment in the region, but also reflects the enduring partnership between the airline and MWAA — built on connectivity, cultural exchange, and economic contribution.
Brian Aldridge from Fly High Aviation Media was on site to document the festivities and capture the aircraft’s arrival. See below for our full photo gallery and video.

“A special thank you to MWAA’s staff, organizers, volunteers, and customer service team for their warm hospitality. Rubin Tian and Amanda Ohbayashi deserve a big shoutout for their tireless work and seamless execution throughout the celebration.”
